Enabling Businesses to Secure Sensitive Data

Even after implementing a robust security tool, no organization can claim that its data is 100 percent secure. A breach can always occur, either due to a human error or via a loophole a hacker finds in an enterprise’s security system. During an attack, the question that plagues most organizations is which database they should prioritize on securing. The situation becomes more complicated when there are multiple directories with sensitive information and a company’s security system can immediately secure only a few of them. At such times, organizations often lose valuable time deciding what to protect first.

This is where 1touch.io makes a world of difference. This U.S.-headquartered and Israeli-based technology company ensures automated, real time discovery, mapping, and tracking of personal data flow. The company has designed an AI based sustainable data discovery and management platform, Inventa, to ensure the privacy, security, and governance of data. “Our target market is large distributed, hybrid customers that hold petabytes of information in different structures and forms in different locations on-prem and cloud. Our solution has the ability to deliver a very accurate master catalog of sensitive data usage,” mentions Itzhak Assraf, CTO of 1touch. “Our goal is to allow businesses to manage data security to complement their infrastructure-based security programs.”

1touch.io believes that a company has to know its data to properly manage and implement data governance and vulnerability management. “Different departments of a company, like sales and marketing, have the right BI analytics tools to make the right decisions based on real data and facts.

However, the security teams often lack the necessary knowledge about the assets they are supposed to protect,” Assraf continues. “Our solution helps clients understand data from a business point of view and make more accurate decisions.”

Inventa is a fully automated solution that covers data in any format, be it structured or unstructured, data in motion or data at rest, both known or unknown. It covers all aspects of data processing in one place and aggregates that into a master catalog containing all the customers’ or employee’s information. Inventa also adds business context to the data by categorizing the asset information according to its importance in the business. Furthermore, 1touch’s solution can link customer information to their relevant business data asset. For example, to create the data asset ‘Insurance Customers in Europe’ for a car insurance company, the system will build a virtual inventory that links car insurance customers in Europe to the specified directory. Additionally, Inventa equips users with the ability to define a policy on the data asset level. They can specify the conditions under which the solution will add information/record to the asset. For example, an insurance company can designate only the individual records in the ‘Insurance Customers in Europe’ directory that comply with GDPR. “We focus on personal data, create a unique, identifiable record of an individual, and link everything to that,” Assraf adds.

With an aim to gain a more diverse group of clients from multiple sectors, 1touch has decided to expand its ecosystem by integrating with different platforms, catalog vendors, data protection, and other data governance vendors. In addition, the company also plans to integrate with solutions like Rapid7 to provide clients with an intuitive way of prioritizing and deciding on the sensitive data vulnerabilities in their organization. Moreover, the organization recently partnered with IBM Security to create the IBM Discover and Classify solution. Through this partnership way, 1touch ensures that IBM customers can easily segregate and prioritize securing their essential investments and quickly recover from any cyber threat, further improving their business performance.

1touch.io announces Inventa v3.3 with new attack surface reduction and cryptographic discovery capabilities

1touch.io Inventa, a leading sensitive data intelligence solution, announces attack surface reduction and cryptographic discovery as well as support for MSFT OneNote and Teams, IBM Guardium Data Protection and RedHat Openshift

NEW YORK - 1touch.io, provider of Inventa™, a sensitive data intelligence solution powered by advanced machine learning, announced today that it has released its 3.3 version. This release builds on Inventa’s market leading sensitive data intelligence for data-at-rest and data-in-motion platform, helping to solve customers’ toughest data security and data privacy challenges.

Attack Surface Reduction

The new Attack Surface Reduction feature displays sensitive data by age: when it was created, and more importantly, when it was last updated. With this new capability customers can determine how much old sensitive data exists and where it is located. They can then take steps to remove it if no longer needed, and can track data minimization over time, thereby reducing overall risk of misuse or compromise.

“Industry reports* have shown that only 15% of your sensitive data is business critical, the rest is ROT or Dark,” said Zak Rubinstein, CEO of 1touch.io. “Customers I talk to are very interested in reducing data security risk by attack surface reduction, so this new feature drives immediate ROI for our customers.”

Cryptographic Discovery

Organizations are beginning to explore quantum safe cryptography and the starting point for any project is the inventory of current cryptographic usage throughout the environment. Inventa 3.3 introduces the ability to identify any potentially outdated or easily compromised encryption (i.e. 128 bit keys; RSA) being used to protect sensitive data, so that it can be updated to the proposed NIST algorithms in the future.

“Most customers are using some form of encryption to protect their sensitive data, but they don’t usually have an automated way to identify outdated or easily compromised systems,” said Jesse Sedler, VP of Products at 1touch.io. “This new functionality allows our customers to discover encryption that may be in use but not actively managed.”

In addition, Inventa 3.3 has added support for Microsoft OneNote and Microsoft Teams, the Denodo Data Platform, integration with IBM Security Guardium Data Protection to provide a risk view into protected sensitive data and vulnerabilities, and support for the leading Kubernetes orchestration tool, RedHat’s OpenShift Container Platform which provides additional security for business critical systems that customers rely on.

1Touch.io Integrates AI Into Mainframe Security

Just because mainframes are old doesn't mean they're not in use. Mainframe Security Posture Management brings continuous monitoring and vigilance to the platform.

1touch.io has announced the launch of its mainframe security posture management (MSPM) product, which relies on contextual artificial intelligence (AI) to provide visibility and accuracy in data discovery and classification across mainframe environments.

With new technologies proliferating and attention focused on modern architectures, it's easy to forget that mainframes continue to run much of the world. They handle 68% of the world's production IT workloads and are used by 71% of Fortune 500 companies, according to 1touch.io. Use is particularly heavy in industries such as banking, insurance, healthcare, and the government, where organizations rely on mainframes for their reliability, security, and massive processing capabilities.

Even so, mainframe security — which includes data security, compliance, and governance — is particularly challenging when integrating mainframes into hybrid cloud environments. Keeping these challenges in mind, 1touch.io added comprehensive visibility across hybrid environment and fast database scanning.

1touch.io MSPM integrates with all mainframe data sources to continuously monitor and analyze sensitive data, which it integrates with other enterprise data — regardless of whether it is structured, unstructured, stored locally, or stored in the cloud — to provide a single, accurate record for each mainframe data asset.

MSPM supports various mainframe data sources, including Virtual Storage Access Method files and IBM Z's Db2. There are plans to extend to IBM Information Management System and flat files, the company said.
